Supporting and Sustaining Entrepreneurial Communities: About Us

We are a team of WVU faculty members from three colleges and Extension, and staff from Lightstone Community Development Corporation, Inc., a West Virginia nonprofit organization. We are currently working with community members in four regional clusters, each made up of two or more counties. Each cluster has a steering committee consisting of community representatives to ensure that we conduct research on issues identified by and of interest to the communities in the clusters.

Our goal is to work with communities to identify economic opportunities, to engage students to further research such opportunities, so as to provide communities with information that can be used to develop new businesses, improve services, or otherwise add to economic strength. In partnership with the communities, our goal is to add 20 full-time equivalent jobs to the clusters we are collaborating with.

Lightstone Community Development Corporation, a non-profit organization with headquarters in Pendleton County is our partner on this project

Benedum Foundation is financially supporting this project with a grant that started in summer 2004 and will run through February 2006.
