Dr. Walter C. Labys, Professor Emeritus
On Monday, May 7, 2007, the Division held a Symposium in Honor of Professor Walter C. Labys. Dr. Labys, a WVU Benedum Distinguished Scholar and longtime faculty member retired at the end of the academic year in 2006. This symposium was held to honor his many contributions in research and teaching. Over a career that now spans more than thirty years, Dr. Labys established an international reputation for his work in modeling commodity prices, the understanding of the relationship between trade and the environment, and spatial pricing. On the evening of May 7, the symposium was concluded with an honorary banquet at the Forks of Cheat Winery.
